I didn't interact with him (lurkers unite!), but his posts, especially in the mental health community thread, were always insightful. RIP.

I was best friends with Rick in High School 9th and 10th and 11th grade mostly. We hung out every lunch along with two other best friends we had. It was me, Shain, JJ, Rick, and... Robert (We didn't really like Robert lol). I don't remember how exactly we started to hang out, I just remember me and him we're really into films, music and videogames. Hideo Kojima was our god. Our favorite movie at the time was Lost In Translation. We fucking fell in love with that movie. Almost everyday after school, Rick would walk me home. Yes, walk me home. My house was about a 25- 30 minute walk from school. He didn't have to, the bus he needed to take to Torrance was next to the school, but he would just take the stop next to my house. I always enjoyed those walks, we would just talk, and talk about everything film, games, and music.

Around the beginning of 11th grade, my parents decided to moves us out to Palmdale. Palmdale is about 2 hours away from San Pedro. It was the most depressing shit ever. We linked up one time after moving to Palmdale. I came to San Pedro, and me and him went to go watch Anger Management. I remember we both liked it despite the bad reviews it got. That was the last time I actually was with Rick. After that we kept in touch via FB, Instagram, and Steam. We never acknowledged each other on here or gaf. But even through social media, we never fully kept in touch. Just the occasional birthdays, or gaming news shares he would tag me in. We only ever played online once, and that was when Portal 2 was released.

I feel like a piece of shit for never taking the time out of my life, to ask if he was ok. Now it's too fucking late. Seriously man, If you know someone going through some shit, reach out to them. I will never ever be silent again when someone I know is desperately asking for help. Rick thank you for those wonderful memories I have of you in High School. It seems like through the years you made many more friends than what you had in HS, and lots of people really loved you.

Rest In Peace brother.

Ric was a great friend to me at a time when I really needed it. I cannot begin to add up the hours we spent talking.

He was always a fierce advocate for science and for mental health. He was funny and shy. He had a very soft voice that I loved listening to. He was passionate about music and always had interesting things to say about bands he was into.

He was a kind and gentle person, curious about the world, loyal to his friends. It was an honor to know him.

I'll miss him so much.
So many hugs, man

Ricardo was a big part of the FakeGAF / Bucket community for a long time. He was an amazing friend and he will be dearly missed by myself and the rest of the community. I am saddened and shocked to hear of his passing. I don't know what happened. But, at least I do know for sure that the world and this site have become a little less bright without him.

His family has organized a GoFundMe in honor of Ricardo. If anyone would like to help out, here is the link:

Mods, if this is not allowed, I apologize. Please edit my post.

Hope this can be added to the OP.

I knew him from the F1 community and Le Mans threads on Gaf. An intelligent, well articulated and passionate fellow.

RIP Ricardo.

Sorry to hear that, awful news. I recall enjoying his posts.

Reading this thread reminds me how much I get out of the good posters here. Thank you to all the really intelligent people who put time into communicating their point of view. It is so meaningful. Listening to people with different life experiences really does change us all for the better.

Damn that's terrible. I remember him from GAF where he talked back to EviLore and being the man-child that he is he perm'd him in return. They also got his alt account after that incident but never A Fish Aficionado.
May you rest in peace Classy Penguin.

Damn. So sorry to hear this.

Really respect his stance on communication of science and dispelling health/diet myths. Always did a good job of shedding light on subjects.

I also read the mental health thread sometimes (even though I don't post). Some of his posts have been really helpful to me.

RIP

Dang that hit me like a gut punch. He was always a cool guy and a great part of the TF2 group. So sorry to hear he passed away.

Rest in peace, Ricardo. I wish I could say I knew you, but I didn't. Saw enough of your posts to know of you, though, and I'll miss your presence all the same.

It's an odd feeling, realising how much of an emptiness that leaves.

This is extremely sad news. I liked Classy and I regret not checking in with him after the GAF implosion. RIP.

They also got his alt account after that incident but never A Fish Aficionado.
May you rest in peace Classy Penguin.

I personally argued EL down from the original perm. EL held a grudge. The second perm we couldn't convince him to reverse so instead we just approved his alt account immediately (skipped the normal moderation queue). EL to my knowledge never noticed but the rest of the staff were broadly on good terms with him.

Sometimes you wonder about how strange this all is. If life was a road, everyone on this site is just people who have stopped at a diner or cafe along the way to chat for a bit. I might never know who any of you really are, but to some on this site, that never mattered. They were friends all the same and my thoughts go out to them and the family in this time of need.

Rest in peace.

I had no idea about this and it's really a sad way to start the day. I greatly enjoyed his banter over the old FakeGAF, even if I believe I had to ban his ass a few times. I hope his family is ok.
