Yep. Its like dealing with an infestation in a house. Vermin will always try to come for refuge and they won't go away by ignoring them. Like an infestation, you have to target and remove any sources that attract and propagate them, find and bar any methods they use to gain access, and staying attentive whenever and whereever they come from so they can be stamped out before the problem becomes worse. Its not just about solving the problem, but making sure that you can deal with it and stop it when it inevitably comes around again.

I'm not too concerned with these fucks going to the dark web. The feds have already found way to de-anonymize TOR by controlling the end nodes.

A quick recap:
  • 8chan: a cesspool of neo-nazis, white supremacists, anti-semitism and pedophiles. Owned by Jim Watkins and administered by this guy.
  • NT Technologies: A company created by Jim Watkins to manage 8chan.
  • Cloudfare: a DDoS mitigation company. Some time ago dropped support for The Daily Stormer after a mass-shooting. The CEO said he would never do it again because "muh free speech". They dropped 8chan because they are going public in a couple of months and bad press is not good for an IPO.
  • Bitmitigate: another DDoS mitigation company, they are the replacemant for Cloudfare. They are owned by Epik.
  • Epik: a service provider, owned by a known white-supremacist and anti-semitic PoS, Robert Monster. They started hosting 8chan. They don't own any meaningful infrastructure, relying on Voxility to offer their services. They also host Gab and The Daily Stormer. This fine people are the management team. I'm sure that the neo-nazis in Gab and The Daily Stormer would love to purge a couple of them.
  • Voxility: A not so big company offering cloud services. Panicked after the mentions on twitter started to blow-up. They didn't see to have a problem with offering their infrastructure to Gab and The Daily Stormer before. They stopped working with Epik after all the publicity.
Lets see where all those sites end now, there are a lot of PoS out there ready to host them.

Appreciate this! Easy recap to read

Good. Especially since the research that has been done on this subject indicates that these type of moves do matter and do work:

https://twitter.com/oneunderscore__/status/1158435644101791745

In 2015, researchers at Georgia Tech, Emory and Michigan tracked what happened when Reddit banned hate communities. By and large, the groups didn't resurface. Some users stopped participating in harassment on other parts of the site entirely.

It is very, very hard for anonymous hate forums to keep casual members around if forced to migrate, or let users know where to go when they're shut down overnight. Diehard online extremists can organize, but the pool of recruits dwindles after bans like this, the research shows.

And a salient point in how sites like 8ch being anonymous might make this even worse for them, especially considering how paranoid and fond of conspiracy theories and just in general not trustful at all the people who browse these sites tend to be:
https://twitter.com/oneunderscore__/status/1158436108100878338

It's probably even more effective in stamping it out. You can't reach out to old usernames you recognize on other parts of the site. You can't be sure if it's the same people as the last community, creating paranoia about if you're wasting your time. 8chan's probably worse off.

Well maybe because I don't have all the information, hence I overlooked something.

Anyway, this is very good.
When you close down a local gun running den, you don't close it because that one den is the source of all gun issues thoughout the country. You close it down because it's one part of a campaign. You close it down because it means the people behind it have to set up shop elsewhere, if they can even find it. You close it down because it cuts down an established supply line that requires effort to reset eleswhere. And as the next one is squashed and the next and the next, it suddenly becomes harder and harder for the members involved to justify putting forth the effort to establish a business they felt formerly was safer and simpler to run. Same goes for sites like 8chan that are gathering places for violent supremacist ideology.

No one is under any illusion that these people aren't actively looking for elsewhere to set up shop. But that effort looking for and trying to establish the same sort of site requires time and effort that isn't going to the active, frequent sharing of rhetoric and audience building that a stable site like 8chan provided. Forcing them to go elsewhere, forcing them to never find comfort and uprooting their efforts at every turn is the entire point.

I'm not sure people realize that one of the reasons Era was notable in the first place was because it was an instance where a huge amount of users migrated over successfully amongst all of the offshoots. That's notable specifically because it's not something that usually happens when it comes to internet communities. And yes, the anonymity of 8chan is definitely a factor.

A quick recap:
  • 8chan: a cesspool of neo-nazis, white supremacists, anti-semitism and pedophiles. Owned by Jim Watkins and administered by this guy.

I find it very interesting that when Trump became president, the number of mass shooting have become more frequent. Is this a coincident, I think not!
Due to his racist hatred of Obama he rolled back a few of gun laws, this one in particular stands out, make it impossible for mentally unstable individuals to purchase weapons..

Saying "deplatforming works" as a mantra doesn't mean this will actually achieve anything. Expecting retaliation attacks in the name of muh 8chan any day now.

Cool, the top of the iceberg is down for now.
Can we now adress the mainstream site that spread the hate like Twitter and Youtube?
It's cool to get something resembling a win, but don't stop there.
8chan was the final stop for those assholes not where it all began.

So what. Unless they murder people again who cares

People are too obsessed with Neogaf. Tyler is a coward and will bail the second anything threatens the ad revenue. It won't ever become the next 8chan.

They have a bunch of users who would feel right at home at 8chan, the worst of them is JordaN, whose posts are eerily similar to what you would see in a mass shooter manifesto. In fact, afters these last two shootings, the guy has even increased his anti-immigrant and racist posting. That's the kind of shitbags Tyler appeals to now.

EDIT: How you doin', plane.jpg :v

Also, to Nobody_Important. Keep fighting the good fight, bro.

This was literally the first legislation from the incoming GOP Congress, iirc.

Them trying to paint these shootings as primarily a mental health issue is mind-numbing in that context.

I think the posters are going to be fairly spooked now that their cesspool was drained and they have no cover. I expect quite a few to be trying to erase their digital footprints.

These chan sites always come back in some form tho.
there's likely thousands of chan sites out there but they are way too irrelevant for them to move to. 8chan was a problem because it had been around for a long time and had a ton of sociopaths on there. if you get rid of it they will splinter off to different sites and if you keep getting rid of the bigger sites they move to eventually they will be splintered enough where they can't cause as much damage.

That will just rile them up even more. Cut the head off the hydra and watch two more grow. The constant media frenzy and coverage is only inspiring them and creating a civil war in the US.
so keep the status quo and keep having the site create and encourage mass murderers? yeah no thank you.

Deplatforming works.

But nobody is under the illusion that it's a one-time fix except for disingenuous/defeatist "don't do anything" people.

This shit is like weeds. It requires maintenance.

No doubt that GAF now attract that kind of scum but what grandjedi said is also true... Evillore is a giant coward. He's letting them be right now because they are bringing him some of the money that he used to get before ERA existed but the moment GAF would start getting any kind of attention from the media or the authorities he would fold in a second.

This is great, thank you for this. The defeatism with this stuff is rampant, and probably as great a threat to stamping it out as the phenomenon itself.

As I said in another thread: Someone needs to pressure Amazon to take down the erotic books, which are a means for donations to keep 8chann running. Stop the money flow.

Ah, definitely. Not even Tyler would allow GAF to 100% turn into the next 8chan, but he's definitely allowing his users to walk a very thin line....

Jesus christ this is the most defeatist garbage

This is a good thing, and it's fine to celebrate it. If bad things happen later, we'll deal with it then.

As opposed to the killings they already praise and encourage? Just like we don't outlaw or demonize interracial relationships because a mass murderer thinks of them as white genocide so to should treat anyone treating the end of fucking 8chan, home of pedophiles, as an excuse for violent "retaliation".

This "cut off the head and two will return!" hydra claim rings a little hollow given that Hercules you know, killed the hydra in the end after snuffing out its regrowth ability.

The Stussining
The whole thing about Q is that it's meaningless gibberish that sounds profound because it's basically haiku with political figures namedropped. It works under similar principles to psychic cold reading, where they say vague stuff and an interested audience reads in what they will. If it sounds dumb, well, there's a reason for that.
Also the other important thing about Q. It's a money making scheme run by a few conspiracy theorist podcast people (or people that broadcast through the web can't rememebr the exact stuff). So that they can have content to discuss on their shows about the "deep state" being dismantled.
