Well...the title says everything, the (in)famous last game of the Metal Gear Saga was released for both generations of consoles this day five years ago.
I think my opinion didn't change that much, just a few things about the story since this was the first MGS that I played, so it was kinda weird to go through the saga after playing V, besides that, it's a great game overall.

What you say ERA?
And I'm going to put here the FANTASTIC launch trailer(Kojima's trailer are out of this world).

Kojima's crowning achievement in gameplay design.

Disappointing story and unnecessary, barren open world.

One of the worst MGS
Great gameplay cancelled by a subpar level design.

That game broke my soul. I was expecting way too much.

Still some of the best stealth gameplay out there. I felt that way at release, and I feel that way now.

I do feel a bit burned about the story, but it doesn't take away from my overall enjoyment of the game. It's just damn fun to play.

Feelings hurt. Was expecting a traditional linear, story driven, cut scene heavy MGS game. Mechanics were great but still a bit of a let down.

I will never replay it again and Ground Zeroes was more enjoyable.

Still the same as always.

Great fun gameplay. Meh story and Quiet's design still sucks. I also feel the game would have been better as a game that has multiple GZ style maps.

some of the most fun i had in a game in 2015. loved the soundtrack you could set for missions too. i'd set 'only time will tell' and try to beat certain missions to the beat of the song. good shit.

story was pretty standard mgs nonsense. i did enjoy the twist at the end. instead of making big boss to be this big evil bad guy over the course of the game, he just gradually loses his morals and makes his trusted men as pawns. he goes from personally affected from war (the boss's death) to seeing it all as part of the bigger picture. it's a more honest depiction of someone becoming a 'bad guy'.

Has it been 5 years already? Holy shit. I remember watching that trailer countless of times.

Excellent gameplay. Probably the best stealth game ever designed. The story left much to be desired, but I've come to peace with it.

I really, really liked it. It was almost the apotheosis of what Metal Gear gameplay aspired to be across the series. I just wish Konami had sucked it up and let Kojima finish the game as originally intended.

It's the best open world game this side of BotW (or perhaps Death Stranding, which I own but still haven't played!).

One of the best controlling open world stealth games but the story was a mess and the ending (if you could call it that) left with me with an emptiness.

Luckily the gameplay was so fun I spent around 200 messing around in it trying to get that platinum.

I wanted a 30 hour version of Ground Zeroes.

Didn't care for it much then. Dislike it even more today. The music and moment-to-moment gameplay are both terrific. The cutscenes are incredibly well-directed. But on the other hand, the story and characterization both disappointed me a great deal, and the overall gameplay experience felt repetitive and lacking in particularity.

A game that people talks a lot about even 5 years after it's released, a thing that can't be said for 98% of games.

the third best MGS after 2 and 1, a misunderstood masterpiece, it'll change again with the time.

I wish Kojima would boot another stealth series with some badass setup stepping away from the 'Snake' prison he set himself up.

The gameplay in MGSV is just incredible.

It's very good but the structure and mission design is really really odd.

MGS is a great series.

The biggest phantom pain game, still hurts to think how great it could've been if it was completed.

I put over 100 hours into it on release. I like it less and less as time goes on. I'll happily replay 1-4 but 5? Never again.

It was a chore to play. The sand box open world didn't help when literally 90% of the world was empty and

Gameplay: 10/10
Level design and open world aspects: 5/10
Story: 3/10
It was the worst MGS for me with the best gameplay.

Was the best game I had ever played for about 5-8 hours. Then I realised it was just a empty husk of a world and dropped it straight away.

Ground Zeroes was a more intesting playground than both the maps.

While the story was clearly not complete, the gameplay is easily the best of its kind. Holy shit it's so fucking good in that respect.

An unfinished product with very fun basic gameplay systems. Story and writing are utter, utter garbage. Missions become repetitive quickly and overall an unsatisfying and at times embarassing experience.

Fantastic gameplay. Quiet was regrettable. After Peace Walker, I appreciated a lessened focus on the story, though it unfortunately followed right after it. The most puzzling thing was it not taking the few elements from Peace Walker that were good and would have made sense (like co-op missions).

a unfinished product with a huge waste of time and probably my worst experience in the MG universe ... no, it did not change since then

Btw I forgot to say that I didn't have any hype for this at the time and I had no emotional attachment for the franchise, so the whole ''scandal'' about the ending and Chapter 3 didn't affect me, so...yeah, it was weird but I thought it was intended lol.

Masterpiece in the gameplay departament, amazing performance.

Useless open world with a bad story.

Still a 9/10 in my book.
