pricing for other sizes at the link.

though the C2's display is also getting a brightness boost over last year's model. Both are being achieved with the help of increased processing power and "Brightness Booster" features.

LG says 2022's 4K OLED lineup includes its widest range of screen sizes ever. At the smallest end is a new 42-inch C2, which has been priced at $1,399. LG envisions this being a popular choice for desktop gaming in addition to its TV chops. Unfortunately, you'll have to wait a bit for the 42C2; it's scheduled to ship in May,

Was waiting on this, but the 48 C1 is bright af and 350 cheaper nowadays so 🤷‍♂️. If you have the money to spend though, I imagine this will look even more glorious.

That seems kinda expensive for a 42 inch tv, right?

Anyway, my Dad has been waiting on this size for his virtual pinball cabinet, so that's one bought at least

Mines on pre-order with John Lewis here in the UK. It's supposed to be released this week, but looks like it may take a little longer...
Will post an update if I get it in the next few weeks.

Is this the year I finally upgrade from my laggy-ass plasma? Hmmm.

Seems like a lot, a 55 inch C1 is just over 1000 dollars on Amazon right now

Edit: nvm it's refurbished

Goddamn I'm feeling pretty happy I just lost patience and got the 48 inch C1 for $1000 right about now

I'm also glad I listened to people who said go a little bigger than you think you need. I was convinced that 48 was too big but after a month or two of use I can't imagine going any smaller.

Prices are MSRP so you can expect this to go down significantly by around thanksgiving. For reference the c1 48in could be had for ~1000, 55 for 1300, 65in for 1600, and 77 for 2700. A little cheaper if you used Greentoe or had specialty stores nearby. With the C2 42in a bit cheaper than the 48 we'll probably see it at 800-900 bucks during the holidays.

I got a pretty sweet deal on a 77in for the superbowl, but looking at the base price it wouldn't surprise me if we see $2300 77inchers this year.

So one of the things I noticed in the specs, there's integrated support for Geforce Now for these things?

pretty sure there is no HDMI 2.1 monitor on the market that matches the features of the C2

certainly no OLEDs

here's the 48 inch in action as a monitor. always seemed a tad big for me.

42 might be perfect.

It's going to be primarily for people with small spaces or who want to use it as a PC monitor. The price jump to 48-55 wouldn't be worth getting this as your main television, for those wondering.

I need a new TV, but I don't know what to get this year between the Sony QD-OLED and the LG C2/G2. My current oled got burn-in after my nvidia shield locked up for an entire day, so I'd prefer one with a heatsink.

Wasn't that usually the price of the 55 inch models in the past? I know at least that's what I paid for my c9.

I'm shocked they brought back the 42. I went from a 42 to 55 cause the 48 was out of stock and I don't regret it, you adjust to the size fast.

This would've been perfect for me had it been created for 2021 releases. I just got a 48 inch C1 that I barely fit into the corner its in; a 42 inch would've been better.

The article mentions that Samsung is offering 144Hz VRR in 2022 and LG is not. Is that a big deal? I don't know what LG is offering.

For desktop use, a 55" 4K screen has even less pixel density (80.1ppi) than a 27" 1080p screen (81.5ppi).

A 1440p laptop is nice density for gaming imo, it's ~188 ppi, which is roughly what you get on a 4K monitor at 24". That's what I really want in a desktop display, give me OLED quality + 4K resolution, but in a 24"-27" package.

I still don't know if I'd want to use this as my primary monitor, for non-gaming productivity as well, but 4K at 42" is a much nicer pixel density for that than larger displays. It's in the same PPI ballpark as a 27" 1440p display, so you can run your OS at 100% scaling and have the UI elements be a comfortable size.

(Obviously this would be great as a secondary display mostly dedicated to gaming, regardless.)

55 C1 owner here and unless this unit breaks I don't see myself upgrading for a few years at least.

Having said that, if you're on the fence about a new OLED tv, I can wholeheartedly recommend LG's units for both gaming and casual viewing. I bet the C2 will be a beast.

Not looking to upgrade now, my 13 year old plasma is still running strong, but I hope it's sufficiently popular that the size sticks around. Seems like normally anything under 50-55 inches is just budget junk, or primarily a PC monitor and extremely expensive.

At 1399 while the 48" C1 is regularly around $1049, tough sell. Not that I can afford either right now, I just spent $1099 on some headphones.

At $1400 I'll probably just save for an Ultrawide instead, 3440x1440 should pair nicely with an RTX 4070.

$1,400 is just the initial list price, folks. Street prices will fall throughout the year the further we get from launch. I'd expect it to be streeting for closer to $1,100 or maybe even less by holiday '22.

Really expensive for a 42", unless this takes the image quality to a whole new level. 42" is too small for TV and too big for a monitor.

It takes image quality to a whole new level vs. any desktop PC monitor on the market outside of the Alienware QD-OLED that just released. And there will be plenty of people who use it either as a primary or secondary monitor for gaming. It will absolutely sell like hotcakes.

I mean compared to their other OLED tvs, in my currency, a 55" C1 is cheaper than this.

55" will probably cost less a month after release. I got a small foldable writing desk for my keyboard and mouse with my 55" CX and put it about 4 feet away and it has been perfect as a monitor.

Better comparison for MSRP on this is comparison to the rest of the C2 lineup. They'll all fall over the year and the C1 etc. will be gone so their current price will be moot.

I hope pricing falls to something reasonable by end of the year because 48" is too big for living in a travel trailer. 55" is out of the question.

There's your actual best gaming monitor currently available, either this or the curved ultrawide Alienware OLED. Just depends on what size/aspect ratio you want and if your desk setup can support it.
