3 Years Ago, Dragon Ball Super's Finale Aired and one of the hypest moment in Dragon Ball history was shown

One of the all time great moments of Dragon Ball.
Nothing done here isn't anything any other shonen series hasn't done before, but when we're talking about the usual standard of writing and the titanic legacy of Dragon Ball, seeing Goku and Frieza team up to defeat Jiren while 17 runs support, Frieza trusting Goku enough that he willingly tries to throw himself out of the tournament to win for the whole team, Goku so exhausted and at his limit he can barely maintain his Super Saiyan form as the power flickers in and out in his and Frieza's last desperate rush, all for the dramatic payoff of not just defeating Jiren but proving him wrong, I feel silly praising Dragon Ball for this but it was legit amazing.

Even people who hated Super came back and admitted that either the tournament arc or at least those final few episodes, were awesome.
I had a lot of criticisms about Super during it's first couple of arcs but I'd be lying if I said I wasn't having a fucking blast watching the Tournament of Power. There were some dud episodes in there and a few filler characters that I hated, but most of it was actually exciting and really fun to watch. I forgot how much I enjoyed watching a new tournament arc and being exposed to like 50 new characters with unique designs and abilities.
17 da MVP though.
Also loved Kefla, Hit, Ribrianne, Dyspo, even those stupid dogs.
That first ultra-instinct awakening was still the peak the for me though. I genuinely lost my mind. I think it's the most interesting upgrade for Goku since the original Super Saiyan.

It was a good sequence, especially when Frezzia dropped the whole "monkey" thing and called Goku a Saiyan and when the two teamed up to knock down that bowling pin of an antagonist.
In general, it makes me wonder how Super will be looked back on as the years march onward. My guess it will be "Good, but uneven."

A new Dragon Ball show with a season format and movies in between seasons would be my dream and could provide some insane animation more consistently

Agreed. I just want something DB to look forward to again at this point and even the movie feels an eternity away. Plus it's not hard to imagine that film may be the last with it having no real presence outside of the manga again now
Literally just wrapping this show up this week. I feel for the folks who have been waiting three years for more. Here's hoping we get a continuation soon.
And then we started watching Super Dragon Ball Heroes to fill the void and come off disappointed 97% of the time.

I mean technically SDBH is a continuation as it takes place after Super but it's just not the same
The Tournament of Power had many great moments, but some moments like the climax were made even better thanks to excellent music choices.
One hell of a redemption after the first couple of arcs. Hopefully Super comes back and adapts/fixes the next manga arcs.

I'm hoping that we get -- I hate to phrase it this way, I'm sure SDBH has fans? -- but a "real" continuation eventually.
This moment took me back to being a kid. Def the best moment to come out of Super and is up there with the hypest moments in the franchise

The flickering Super Saiyan on Goku was a brilliant bit of visual storytelling. Goku's running on empty. There really isn't anything left. But as Goku does, he pushes through anyway. And so you get the golden hair flickering on and off as Goku tries to start up the form and it just not stabilizing. No need to explain that he's out of energy, the hair says it all.
Can't believe it's been that long already. The show may have started and been pretty rough but that finish was nice. Definitely a favorite db moment.
I wouldn't say SDBH is a continuation of Super. It's a parallel universe that has its own continuity with events that also happen to be similar to the main universe. Like, Xeno Trunks is the same Trunks from the Cell Saga but is distinctly different from the Trunks from the Cell Saga that went on to fight Goku Black because the former Trunks went off to team up with GT Goku and GT Vegeta.

The manga is currently doing an arc based on an outline from Toriyama, so chances are high the DBS anime returns eventually.
Excellent! I'm not especially in-the-know regarding the Dragon Ball franchise so I had no idea re: a Toriyama-outlined arc!

One of the best moments in the entire Dragon Ball series. Kid me wouldn't have dreamed that Goku, Frieza and 17 would join forces, and here we are. Something that really improved this scene was Ultimate Battle playing in the background. Overall, Tournament of Power is good. Has many flaws, like focusing way too much in U7, but it gave us great moments, some cool characters like Caulifla and Ultra Instinct.
I really miss Super. After Broly I expected we would get more Dragon Ball.

Why haven't they announced plans for another anime or movie? It's clearly still SUPER popular and there's bank to be made.
