We are a country of 300 million people. I know this found likes to shit on Americans without hesitation, but remember that this is a very large country and you are getting cherry picked stories that are chosen specifically because they are outrageous.

Does the United States have serious problems? Of course. Are many of these problems unique to this country? No.

I do wonder how different the moderation reactions would be if we had threads constantly shitting on the people of other countries in overly broad and insulting ways?
Did you read the thread that's pinned to the top of this forum about how people here have been talking about China?

The police have identified the suspect arrested, looks like it is just 1 shooter.

Police Identify Woman Accused In SW OKC McDonald's Shooting

I guess it's good (for the employees) that only 1 person was actually shot. Hopefully they all recover and are taken care of by McDonalds.
Just now saw this story come across my newsfeed. I'm just glad nobody was killed.

On a side note it is kind of embarassing how many people in here automatically assumed the person was white. We should really wait for more details in situations like this. Otherwise alot of people just end up with egg on their face.

I think it's just unnecessary to assume anyone is anything in these situations.

White people do make up a majority of those complaining about shutdowns loudly. However, minorities have probably been affected by it the most.

It should probably be a blanket policy that no one comes into a thread where the race of the victim or the criminal isn't known, and assigns them a race based on their personal experience or bias.

I'm pretty sure that is already in place. It just doesn't apply in this situation.

So instead of school shootings, with all the schools closed, we now have Pandemic rebellion shootings.

I mean, I guess? It sounds more like the shooter was mad or felt disrepected or something?

Police identify woman accused of firing shots at McDonald’s after she was told dining room was closed

Oklahoma City police identified a woman accused of firing shots inside a McDonald’s restaurant after being told by employees that the dining room was closed due to coronavirus restrictions.

According to police, the suspect entered the restaurant and was told by employees the dining area was closed. She was asked to leave but refused, and police said a physical altercation ensued between the suspect and an employee.

Police said the suspect was then forced out of the restaurant by employees. She reentered the restaurant with a handgun and fired about three rounds in the restaurant, according to police.

One employee was hit in the arm, a second was hit with shrapnel in the neck/shoulder area and a third employee was hit with shrapnel in the side, police said. The employee who was involved in the initial physical confrontation suffered a head injury. The cause of this injury in unclear, according to police.

My guess is she walked in and wanted to eat, but they said she couldn't eat inside. How that escalated to an employee getting a head injury escorting her out I don't know, I haven't seen the details. Clearly she didn't want to leave. I would hope giving an employee a head injury would be bad enough, but then she went and got her gun and came back guns blazing.

One of the other stories said two of the injured employees were 16 years old. Kids working a damn job and she has to come in SHOOTING at them. What the hell, man.

At least everyone is expected to recover.

Just have to wonder what is going through someone's head that they think this is a good idea. Can only be glad that no one was killed.

Businesses can declare themselves gun-free zones and prohibit open or concealed carry of firearms on their premises if they so choose. At least they can here in Texas, I'm not sure about other states but I'd assume it's the same nationwide if fucking Texas allows it. Doesn't mean someone won't sneak one in.

In the vein of the Republican idea that schools should arm themselves, I think the real solution is that all stores have to arm themselves.

MacDonalds would commission a McAssault rifle and McVests for its employees, along with McRevolvers and McTasers for smaller encounters. Some branches would also have McTurrets, for the sleasy animals.

And we all know Apple's new slate of iRifles are gonna dominate the market.

I guess I wonder why people assumed she was white, just like all of the posts assuming the Flint shooter and their family were white/conservative/a trump supporter. Can we not jump to these shitty assumptions before getting more info in a perverse rush to win some political points to own the MAGAts and end up getting self owned when it turns out that it's just shitty, senseless violence? Does everything need to be crammed into that narrative before we know more?

Very good people on both sides of this situation.
Like what does a post like this do? Was this woman a trump supporter? Did trump praise this person? What "sides" of this situation are there? The post this poster quoted talking about stand your ground as if the woman was a 2nd amendment conservative nutjob was totally unfounded. Why the hell are these kind of posts okay? Why can't people just wait for more info before trying to politicize violent acts?
Nobody ever learns from this shit, either. This forum is incredibly quick to jump to conclusions about basically every headline. Nobody ever reflects on it, and the cycle repeats. You guys don't need to invent racist boogeymen when plenty of fucking real ones exist. Just look at the thread where two white men literally hunted down and executed a man for being black. Isn't there enough real horrific shit in the world?

The best part of this dumb tirade is how nobody mentioned trump or conservatives or racists in the quote tree that you are going off about, but your mind associates "stand your ground" with those things (for very good reason), belying your entire post's premise because there is a very obvious reason why those kinds of nut jobs are associated with far right thinking. FOH.

Go look at the Flint thread. Same shit happened there. Are you arguing that the race to politicize that incident didn't happen, too? What, I ask again, is the point of the "very fine people" statement if this had literally nothing to do with Trump or his supporters? What the fuck "sides" are there to this incident for there to even be "very fine people" on? What relevance do those flippant posts have to the situation and how do they in any way serve to further discussion? It's cool just to admit that you were wrong and made a bad post in an apparent rush to be first post and get a spicy quote chain going.

I'm just tired of people taking literally everything and making it about fucking Trump and shitty conservatives, inventing narratives when the real very shitty and horrible narrative is bad enough already. Acting like literally posting conservative 2nd amendment dogma and paraphrasing Trump isn't doing just that is also transparent as hell. You know what you did.

Are you from Oklahoma? Have you lived there? What makes that your first statement?

And that's why your life is wrong.
I mean in this very instance, i can't throw glass stones, Texas is being dumb as hell regarding lock down, even more so than oklahoma. Like, in texas, there would have been a very good chance right now they would have outright let her eat inside the place if it was a franchised mcdonalds.

But on the football field, 62-47-5.

It's not only Texas and Oklahoma. It's our country in general. I feel as though we only took half measures against the spread of covid and now we are moving quickly towards business as usual.

That record is indisputable but it's why we are college football's greatest rivalry.

Stillwater lifts face mask mandate after businesses threatened with violence

Stillwater recently amended its coronavirus emergency proclamation so that residents will no longer be required to wear a mask while in stores and restaurants, with city officials saying the decision stems from concerns voiced by businesses.

I think us white people will be okay. I don't know about you but the assumption doesn't make me feel oppressed or anything. It's okay to make reasonable assumptions about radical right-wing terrorism.

I'm from Oklahoma, best thing I did was move away once I graduated college.

It's a backward state that's in the bottom rung of every national stat, healthcare, etc...but it has the wonderful combination of being near last in education and near top in being the easiest to get a gun. Like a Mississippi or Alabama.

Dumb people with guns shooting up a McDonalds because they feel wronged not getting their Chicken McNuggets or some shit isn't surprising in that state.

The entire state of Oklahoma wishes it was Texas so, so badly, and I'm an OU Alum.
