Black Friday is on November 26th this year.

One year ago we were in the middle of a pandemic with the talk of vaccines being imminent and experienced two new console launches which were hampered by hardware shortages and scalpers. This year we are still in the middle of a pandemic with the talk of vaccines for young children being imminent and experiencing hardware shortages for all consoles and still having to put up with scalpers. It doesn't sound like a lot has changed but it looks like we can finally start to see a light at the end of this tunnel as we head towards 2022. If you haven't already but are able to, the free and safe vaccine is the best deal to be had this holiday season!

Retailers last year came up with policies in how to deal with crowds to try to mitigate the traditional rush during the holidays. With a large number of people being vaccinated, it will be interesting to see if they continue with these policies or continue with them as the new way of handling Black Friday moving forward. A new challenge has happened though with issues in manufacturing and bottlenecks in transportation of goods that has resulted in wide shortages of products across the board. There have been plenty of warnings that this will impact the holiday season significantly and people should start shopping early.

Last year, the addition of our own spreadsheet was widely popular and a huge success. Naturally, that is returning and will be a main staple moving forward. For those who are new to the spreadsheet, it has been designed to be easy to use and visually pleasing at a quick glance. The spreadsheet will automatically highlight the lowest price in green to indicate which retailer or retailers have the lowest price. Every platform has a visual icon so you can quickly see which platform a title is for. You can also sort by platform by looking at the last column, right clicking on the letter of the column and select "Sort sheet A->Z". You can also filter out which platforms you want to see by clicking on the "All" drop down and unchecking which platforms you want to remove. The same way of sorting and filtering/searching works on the titles too.

Sales typically begin at 1 AM EST on the day of the sale. Elite and Elite Plus members have been allowed to have early access in the past usually the weekend before. These dates will be added as soon as it's known and it could be different this year with how retailers are spreading out their deals. New this year is the Totaltech membership which will have exclusive access to deals.

Free next day delivery on orders of $35 or more through Christmas

Holiday Return Policy:

Purchases made between October 18th, 2021 through January 2, 2022 will have an extended return period through January 16, 2022.

Black Friday Price Guarantee:

All deals from the Oct. 19th sale are guaranteed to not go lower before or on Black Friday, Nov. 26th. If it does, prices will automatically be refunded to your account if you are a My Best Buy or Totaltech member. Reimbursements will take place by Dec. 15th. If "In-Store Pickup" is an option when ordering online, be weary as this may be unreliable during the weekend as inventory will move quickly and items may disappear before employees can get to them.
Shipping Policy:

Holiday Return Policy:

For Electronic and Entertainment items purchased between October 1, 2021 through December 25, 2021, the refund period will begin starting December 26th. Most electronic and entertainment items, which includes video games, have a 30 day return period and must be returned by January 24, 2022. Apple products have a 15 day return period and must be returned by January 9, 2022. Mobile phone purchases have a 14 day return period and must be returned by January 8, 2022.

Target's normal return policy on all other items is within 90 days or 120 days if you made the purchase with a Red Card.

Holiday Price Match Policy:

From October 10, 2021 through December 24, 2021, Target will price match any item in store or online if the price goes lower within that period at Target. At any other retailer, their standard 14 day window applies. (I personally don't get why they only have 14 days when you can simply return the item and buy it again to price match or just buy it elsewhere after you return it.)

Key Dates:

Every Sunday starting October 31, 2021, Target will have new week long holiday deals leading up to Black Friday.

There interesting thing is they list Friday the 26th as the cut off but Black Friday deals should start on the 19th. Even if they hold some back, I would expect it to be like online by Thursday. So I'm thinking it's probably okay.

Just to add to this, from a few times I've gotten used games from Gamefly, they've been immaculate as if they were just freshly opened. They rank up their with Japanese used games for me based off my experience.

It depends on which console you are getting it for. Switch games will be perfect. Sometimes the blu rays are a little banged up on the very edge of the disk (from being mailed out), but they are guaranteed to work so just throw it in your system and as long as it copies and plays you should be good to go, and I've never not had one play.

the damage typically looks like

I guess I got lucky then since I got a couple of discs and I was super hesitant on doing in the first place but ended doing so because it was hard to acquire a new copy at that point. Each time the disc was clean. I tend to avoid used games in the US because of how the condition usually is but so far have had positive experiences with GameFly. I say that now which will of course will jinx the next time I pick something up from them.

As I said, I've never had an issue with any of the discs, but I've totally had the chips on some of them.

Oh I'm not doubting you; I'm just saying I didn't even have the chips on them so I must have gotten lucky on the discs I've got since they looked pristine. I was just surprised given that they're a rental company so I wasn't expecting what I got and I bet it'll probably bite me one day if I keep expecting to hit that kind of luck.

Target right now has a 10% off electronics Target Circle coupon and they're already marked down to LG's current discounts so it's an additional 10% off that. Take another 5% if you have their Red Card.

Hopefully this is a good place to ask, but do we expect the new Mario Party to end up being on sale? Do same year Nintendo titles usually get discounts on BF?

Usually not. It's usually older Nintendo games and less popular ones. Mario Party not even being out yet is pretty much going to be 99.9% unlikely to get discounted directly unless there's some sort of other indirect sale that impacts the price.

One year ago we were in the middle of a pandemic with the talk of vaccines being imminent and experienced two new console launches which were hampered by hardware shortages and scalpers. It doesn't sound like a lot has changed but it looks like we can finally start to see a light at the end of this tunnel as we head towards 2022. If you haven't already but are able to, the free and safe vaccine is the best deal to be had this holiday season!

Retailers last year came up with policies in how to deal with crowds to try to mitigate the traditional rush during the holidays. With a large number of people being vaccinated, it will be interesting to see if they continue with these policies or continue with them as the new way of handling Black Friday moving forward. A new challenge has happened though with issues in manufacturing and bottlenecks in transportation of goods that has resulted in wide shortages of products across the board. There have been plenty of warnings that this will impact the holiday season significantly and people should start shopping early.

Last year, the addition of our own spreadsheet was widely popular and a huge success. Naturally, that is returning and will be a main staple moving forward. For those who are new to the spreadsheet, it has been designed to be easy to use and visually pleasing at a quick glance. The spreadsheet will automatically highlight the lowest price in green to indicate which retailer or retailers have the lowest price. Every platform has a visual icon so you can quickly see which platform a title is for. You can also sort by platform by looking at the last column, right clicking on the letter of the column and select "Sort sheet A->Z". You can also filter out which platforms you want to see by clicking on the "All" drop down and unchecking which platforms you want to remove. The same way of sorting and filtering/searching works on the titles too.
