NBC is burning this show off hard. I like the show but it seems like no one's gonna watch the final season except for certain people who will view it under a microscope considering the subject material they've decided to tackle (myself included).

The "burn off" is for a very specific reason that I'm sure the crew wanted

Look at the dates on the ending roll-out

Trimming won't be a problem. They are going to trim and condense (adapt) quite a bit. Sounds like too much on the blurbs I read. Hope I'm wrong, as I love the book series. But definitely have my reservations.

That it got renewed for season 2 doesn't mean a whole lot for me. Let me know when we are season 8 or 9. Even with it being condensed/adapted, we are going to need at least that to tell the story accurately, especially with what I believe are shorter (8 episodes?) seasons.
They will need that 8-9 seasons easily (if not more), but there's really quite a lot that they can trim, condense & combine to make the storytelling more efficient. A lot of characters spin their wheels hard even in the less wheel-spinny books, let alone when it's at its worst. Like a certain someone saving another character who gets kidnapped doesn't need to take 5 seasons worth of TV like it does 5-6 books. Or if it does, they don't need to spend all that much time with that particular storyline per episode. A lot of the travel in the books can also be montaged to save time for more important. Even in the first book we don't really need to see Rand & Co stay and travel through as many villages as they do. Skip some, maybe combine a few important scenes that happen in different villages into happening in a single stop of just one etc.

Also, world-building & lore can & should take a bit of a hit. I know a lot of fantasy nerds love some good ol' lore dumps & massive world-building, but that's not necessarily hugely important for the core story & a tv show, and as such should be skipped as much as possible. They can take some of that stuff into account in subtle ways, but a lot of it shouldn't be explained as thoroughly as in the books & wasted time upon.

CBS Drops ‘Bull’ Showrunner Following Workplace Investigation

After multiple writers left the series, Glenn Gordon Caron — who oversaw the legal drama for four seasons — is exiting, and his overall deal with CBS Studios has ended. Co-star Freddy Rodriguez is also out at the show.
Following a workplace investigation on the CBS drama Bull, showrunner Glenn Gordon Caron has exited the show and his overall deal with CBS Studios has ended, sources tell The Hollywood Reporter.

The show's writing staff underwent multiple departures after production wrapped for season five, which aired its finale on May 17. CBS Studios, sources say, launched an investigation regarding those writers' exits. CBS declined to address questions about the reasons for Caron's departure, but confirmed that Caron is no longer with Bull. The series, starring Michael Weatherly as jury consultant Dr. Jason Bull, was renewed for a sixth season in April.

Additionally, co-star Freddy Rodriguez, who played Benjamin "Benny" Colón on Bull for more than 100 episodes, is also exiting the show after a workplace investigation. CBS declined to comment on the circumstances surrounding Rodriguez's departure, but confirmed he will no longer be on the show. A rep for the actor declined to comment.

Five past and present Bull writers who spoke with THR, but declined to be named for fear of professional repercussions, say Caron fostered a disrespectful work environment during his four-year tenure. These sources allege that he expressed opinions they perceived as callous and that it was common for him to berate the writing staff. "Everyone was so on edge — it felt like everyone constantly had, at the very least, a lot of anxiety," a former Bull writer says. Multiple Bull writers were interviewed as part of the CBS investigation, sources say. Through a representative, Caron declined to comment.

Not the fist time for this show.
Michael Weatherly's allegations of sexual harassment.
In January 2018, CBS settled for $9.5 million with actress Eliza Dushku after she was fired from a recurring role on Bull after informing producers of Weatherly's inappropriate behavior on the set.

Friday night's ratings from TV Line:

TV Line said:
In the latest TV show ratings, Fox's Friday Night Smackdown drew a 0.5 rating (and 1.83 million total viewers), ticking up from last week to tie for the nightly demo win.

ABC's Shark Tank (3.4 mil/0.5) was steady with its season finale, matching SmackDown for the demo win and delivering Friday's largest audience (edging out CBS' Blue Bloods rerun with its 3.31 mil).

CBS' The Dick Van Dyke Show: Now in Living Color special averaged 2.6 mil and a 0.2.

Over on NBC, The Blacklist (3.1 mil/0.3) was steady.

Pending certain adjustment due to MLB preemptions, Charmed (690K/0.1) and Dynasty (670K/0.1) both are currently up sharply in viewers while steady in the demo.

Was there any word if SEAL Teams budget will go up or down with the move to Paramount +?

I assume the episode count gets cut in half regardless

I hope it doesn't get cut that much. Disappointing as is it is almost certainly going to be cut due to being moved to Paramount+. Just hope the episode count isn't too much less.
Dear god I hope it isn't cut down to like a "premium" 8 episode deal.

The fun of Seal Team is that there is a dumb fun military series on weekly and the cast is way higher caliber than honestly required.

What I was thinking of when I saw that. Dude was in his 30s creepin' on dating Jessica Alba who was 18 or 19 when Dark Angel started filming, years later started dating his current wife with an even wider age gap between them though at least she wasn't a teenager, his oldest kid is closer in age to her than he is.

Happy birthday!

Some of these European series continue to be great investments for Netflix. Sexify is one spot below Jupiter's Legacy and probably has 1/20th of the production cost.

I think Discovery's worldwide presence has been an under reported aspect of the Warner/Discovery merger. It could really help HBO Max (or whatever they end up calling it afterwards) compete in that space.

It's not just for competition, streaming services in the European Union need to have a certain percentage of European productions in their catalogue to be able to operate in the EU.

I still maintain the spin-off is about a weird character, but I love that we get more All American.

That's an uncomfortable read. That's really weird that they don't have some "other" way to do it and instead had to actually waterboard her. That's insane, actually.
At this point the show had already devolved into nothing but special effects, brutality and sexual violence so I would say I was surprised, but am I really?

It's pretty horrible that this was the compromise they decided to go with. "We can't exploit rape anymore, so lets waterboard the actress".

‘Powerpuff’ To Be Repiloted, ‘Tom Swift’ Remains In Contention; ‘Our Ladies Of Brooklyn’ & ‘Painkiller’ Not Going Forward – CW Pilots Update

Ahead of the CW's fall 2021 schedule announcement, the network has made decisions on the bulk of its six 2021 pilots.

It's becoming a trend on the CW not picking up spin-offs I have any interest in. First it was Wayward Sisters, then Green Arrow and the Canaries and now Painkiller. Painkiller not as much as the other two, but I did like the back-door pilot.

They still have a bulk of my programming, but definitely not going to get my hopes up any longer for any future potential spin-offs for shows that I enjoy. Seems I am cursed in that regards.

Things are not looking good for Showbuzzdaily, according to their Twitter account. I will still post ratings despite them being down but this may be the last season I do it. TV Line is a good source for overnight TV ratings but they do more of an overview of how shows fared the night before instead of going into full details with charts like Showbuzzdaily does. I was looking at other sites but it appears that they depend on Showbuzzdaily as well.

It's a sign of the serious issues that continue to keep http://showbuzzdaily.com down that we can't even post this update on the site itself. Despite our efforts over the past week, we continue to be unable to add content onto the site. It appears that whatever caused the shutdown (which is still unclear) led to a domino effect that triggered underlying problems we hadn't even known were there. As many of you are aware, we've been operating the site for years without revenue, and honestly the cost and time that would be required to bring the site back has led us to consider what the future of showbuzzdaily can be. In response to the tweets and emails we expect to receive, you can't count on us to post ratings via social media, and as much as we appreciate the offers to provide technical assistance, we're going to have to decline. We're also not in a position to make arrangements regarding our databases or other content. We promise that we're going to try and figure out a way back, and we'll let you know when there's an update.
