As the tilte says, 15% of Nintendo 64 videogame titles end with "64". I was wondering about this fact and I didn't think it will be as high as 15%. Here is the list of games in North America (45 out of 296 total games).

(I need for a mod to edit the title and make it 15%)

1- Asteroids Hyper 64
2- Bass Hunter 64
3- Bomberman 64
4- Bomberman 64: The Second Attack
5- Carmageddon 64
6- Destruction Derby 64
7- Donkey Kong 64
8- Doom 64
9- Dr. Mario 64
10- Duke Nukem 64
11- Excitebike 64
12- F1 Pole Position 64
13- FIFA Soccer 64
14- Fighting Force 64
15- Forsaken 64
16- Gex 64: Enter the Gecko
17- Golden Nugget 64
18- GT 64: Championship Edition
19- International Superstar Soccer 64
20- Kirby 64: The Crystal Shards
21- Madden Football 64
22- Mario Kart 64
23- Mega Man 64
24- Micro Machines 64 Turbo
25- Monster Truck Madness 64
26- Namco Museum 64
27- Nuclear Strike 64
28- Ogre Battle 64: Person of Lordly Caliber
29- Paperboy 64
30- Pilotwings 64
31- Quake 64
32- Quest 64
33- Ridge Racer 64
34- Road Rash 64
35- Robotron 64
36- Shadowgate 64: Trials of the Four Towers
37- Star Fox 64
38- StarCraft 64
39- Stunt Racer 64
40- Super Mario 64
41- Superman 64
42- Virtual Chess 64
43- Virtual Pool 64
44- Wave Race 64
45- Wipeout 64

Now we need someone to get us the percentage and the list of games that start with Super for the SNES.

Note: these are the NA games. There are more PAL and JP games that end with 64.

Fun fact: Had Diddy not been shoved into it, Diddy Kong Racing would of been on the list of games with 64 in the title

Why are you missing so many games from your list?

No Mario Kart 64, Super Mario 64, Star Fox 64 etc

70 games sounds about right for PAL land lol. I remember game overview and score lists for the system only being a few pages in magazines

I always thought this phenomenon of "console name in the game names" was cute.

I wonder what the percentage of PSP games with "Portable" in the title is. Or GBA games with "Advance".

You know I always thought Superman 64 was the actual title of that game but it's not.

It's a shame this naming gimmick only happens on Nintendo platforms. A third of the Xbox games should have an inappropriate X somewhere.

Yeah, but the Xbox brand has some of the most generic, uninspired branding to it of the three main console makers. Why would you go from Xbox 360 to Xbox One? Then you go from Xbox One X to Xbox Series X?

I think '64' was associated with '3D' at the time.
At that time, there was still fight about how many "bits" your console handle (note that the term "bit" in French is the same sound as the word we used to say "dick"). Then it was polygon and now it is Tera Flop. The future will probably be on ray tracing.

To go back to the subject, it was also probably to remembered to people that it was "best" because having the highest number.
But it can also be to simplified it for people not knowing VG well.

How many SNES games began with "Super" in it?
How many Wii U games ended with "U" in it?

How much wood can a wood chuck chuck?

The '64' is just a titling thing that Nintendo pushed, as they did with 'Super' for SNES. I doubted that the '64' was simply a trend started thanks to Mario 64 (my response to that post I quoted). They likely had the '64' thing decided for their games well in advance.

To be fair those names aren't generic. Far from it. It's tryhard in a very uninspired way.

Honestly, can one be blamed if they were to mistake the Xbox Series X for the Xbox One X? At least with the Playstation and Nintendo brand, you have linearity, with the exception of the Wii U. By the way, and Wii U games exclusive to from the Switch these days? I'm thinking Mario Maker 1 off the top of my head.

1. Only 15? if somebody asked me, i would have said a third.
2. The n64 had only ~400 games? less then expected, i thought more in the range of 600.

Just Nintendo Land, Pikmin and MM1 if the rumors pan out this year.

Personally I would add Zombie U but that's from Ubisoft.

"Superman 64" isn't its name, but everyone calls it that.

Edit: I see people above mentioned this, and there are others in there too.
