Found from this article: https://comicbook.com/gaming/2019/04/04/13-year-old-trades-xbox-buys-mother-car/

Important bits from the article:

Not many teenagers would likely be willing to purchase a car for their parents, let alone be in a position to do so. However, 13-year-old William Rabillo of Fernley, Nevada recently proved that this is definitely possible in what may be one of the most heartwarming stories in recent memory. The child knew that his mother was going through a rough time and needed a vehicle, so he decided to do what needed to be done by trading his Xbox and yard work for a car to give to his mother.

It's definitely great to hear of this sort of act, especially from someone so young and willing to give up their video games in order to provide for their family. A GoFundMe page has even been set up to help the family during this time, and it has already raised over $4,000 from 117 people at the time of this writing.

Major Nelson also asked for contact info and has contacted the mother of the kid.

Good job by Major Nelson and Microsoft, even better job by that kid. Raised right at least in the regard of what's right and wrong, good job buddy.

Get this kid tickets to E3!

Great kid with great moral fiber.

Also, this is the worst kind of capitalism porn; it's uplifting and inspiring to see our teenagers chip in way more than they should in order for the lower and lower-middle class to make ends meet.

What an awesome child! Sad that it came to that however. I also see that Major Nelson is sending a pacakge, I am assuming a new Xbox for the young man, which is a great thing to do. Microsoft has truly done a 180 from the way they acted from the start of this gen which is awesome.

The idea that they're trying to push stories like this as heartwarming makes me sick.

'D'awwww a little girl sold lemonade to buy her big brother insulin so he wouldn't die awwwwww'

Why the hell is this woman in the position she's in for her son to feel he has to do this? Mother of the year material here.

This kid has a great chance at future success in life due to the hardships and struggles he faced at a young age. His intrinsic motivation is through the roof. Hope MS hooks up with some nice goodies.

43 million Americans live in poverty. The majority of the country lives paycheck to paycheck. The problems with our country and the way wealth is distributed go a lot deeper than this one woman. There's no reason for you to assume it's her fault she's in this situation.

Sad story. But that kid is hustling. He'll probably be a millionaire some day.

The problem with this kind of take is that it feels like you are saying kids who don't work their asses to buy their poor parents a car are bad.

I don't see it as cut and dry as that. Just because they don't do some type of bootstrap shit to get mom some wheels doesn't automatically make them bad.
I've got 3 kids. ONE of them might do this for me if times got tough, the other one probably wouldn't and the other one just turned 1 yesterday so I can't make that call lol.

I love this kid, but like so many others, I'm heartsick at what these kinds of stories really mean.

Not really understanding at all how you could have taken that from what the poster said. They were just saying that the circumstances are unfortunate, but that doesn't take away from the fact that he's a hell of a kid, doesn't mean folks who don't do the same are bad; there are middle tiers.

Good kid, hard times came knocking and he responded like a champ. We will all face hard times in life, I hope we all can respond so well

We don't know the whole situation to make that assumption.

The " system " allows for people like you and me to freely help people like them. The problem is a lot of people feel bad.. not many actually put forth effort.

I mean the system shouldn't require the charity of others for some to survive.

I unironically expect someone to point at this as an example of why we need to lower the working age below 16.
