In Star Ocean 3, it's revealed that the entire universe is actually an MMO and that you and all your party members are NPC's in it.
i read this article and rushed to my podcast feed, and im disappointed i have to wait for tonight to hear double toasted talk about this movie

That sounds hilariously stupid, and I kind of want to see it now when I had zero interest before.
I enjoy quite a few of his flicks but Body Double was definitely peak weirdness even for DePalma.
Judging by the critical response, this might end up as one of the worst ones!
This isn't nearly as mental as the story of the fourth segment of Tales from the Hood 2, but getting something this mad as a major Hollywood production is pretty fun.

Valkyrie Profile takes place inside the same MMORPG, because there truly is no God.
Maria outright mentions the planet Valkyrie Profile takes place on in dialogue a couple of times, including Bloodbane, the recurring dragon superboss that plagues you throughout the first game.
I'm not gonna read the spoiler since I want to go in blind and enjoy the ridiculous but I knew from the first trailer something wacky was up. It didn't play straight at all. I always figured he was in purgatory or there was some weird supernatural angle.
Damn! Richard Roeper loves the hell out of it. I gotta see this before I'm spoiled.

Reading Richard Roeper's review, there's some vague hints that you're indeed in a video game especially the fact it's a small island, there's only a few NPCs and they all know about your character. Video games as fuck.

It was just the right amount of weirdness for me.
Monster Of The Deep (VR) has pretty good user scores.
Also, since there's already several open spoilers, I find it funny that it's apparently specifically a fishing game the kid modded because the only focused fishing game I know of that had free-roam across and island, hotels interacting with NPC's, storefronts was the very good Fishing Resort for Wii.
Now all I can think of is this is the game he modded. I can picture McConaughey's narration over the game trailer.
