The "Frasier" revival has officially been ordered at Paramount Plus.

Original series star Kelsey Grammer will return in the title role in addition to executive producing. Chris Harris and Joe Cristalli will serve as writers and executive producers, with Grammnet Productions' Tom Russo and Jordan McMahon also executive producing. The series will be produced by CBS Studios in association with Grammnet Productions, exclusively for Paramount+. The announcement was made as part of ViacomCBS' investor day presentation on Wednesday.

"Having spent over 20 years of my creative life on the Paramount lot, both producing shows and performing in several, I'd like to congratulate Paramount+ on its entry into the streaming world," said Grammer. "I gleefully anticipate sharing the next chapter in the continuing journey of Dr. Frasier Crane."

Wonder if any Cheers guest stars will pop up?

YES!!!!!!!!! One of my favorite shows of all time. I was just watching the episode with Niles setting Frasier's couch on fire after trying to iron his pants.

It's too bad the movie studio theme park business isn't lucrative for 1000 reasons these days. Imagine Frasier: The Experience at Paramount Parks.

The series also starred David Hyde Pierce, Jane Leeves, and Peri Gilpin, none of whom are currently attached to the revival.

Frasier (the series) was always an ensemble show first, a vehicle for Grammer second. I really doubt this'll be anywhere near as good as the original series.

If they go with that premise of Frasier taking on Martin's role and moving in with his son then I hope they cast the original actor for Freddy..considering he's still active and a good actor.

Easy pass. He can stay in the dumpster along with Scott Baio, Kevin Sorbo, Chuck Woolery and all the other Trump bootlickers.

Interesting to see were they take it. I'm expecting Lilith has passed and his son will be in the show.

I heard he is a hard R, pull yourself up by the bootstraps so nobody deserves nothing person which was sad to hear.

Hmmm, good point. Bebe Neuwirth is pretty liberal, and I'm pretty certain isn't in need of the money, so I doubt she'll be in the series.

While I'm not sure I could bring myself to watch the show in the first place given Grammer's... issues, I've gotta say, I concur with this as well.

At the very least, they need to give David and Jane recurring roles. Just a few more episodes with Niles and Daphne would go a long way. Star Trek: Picard sort of has this problem as well, but it's partly resolved by... doing what I just said, basically.

If this is still the case on production starts then I'm out. Not gonna watch the show if it's just the Trumper. I absolutely agree with you on the ensemble perspective.

Awful news.

Man is a clown.
He is a garbage human.
I wonder if Frasier himself will be a shitty, angry Trump supporter too?

As someone who just started watching Cheers a few months ago (currently on season 8), I had no idea that Kelsey Grammar was an awful human being. Is he just like a huge trump die hard or is there anything more significant I should know?

Love Fraiser back in the day, but anyone who praises the Trump regime is vile and I can't see past that. I will have great respect for any of the classic actors who would turn him down.

I know he's a terrible shithead, but I'd still probably give it a watch if it were on a streaming service that I'm already paying for because I love Frasier. It was a funny show, but that's not going to be enough to get me to sign up for a new subscription.

I love Fraiser but the show would nothing without the original cast. John Mahoney will be missed.

Also Grammer's politics sucks.

Okay are you fucking kidding me instead of the original writers they actually hired a HIMYM writer and the person who runs the contemporary Frasier Twitter account to showrun

I could buy a revival but it was always on the writers

Hmmm, good point. Bebe Neuwirth is pretty liberal, and I'm pretty certain isn't in need of the money, so I doubt she'll be in the series.
Kelsey was wild back then and people still worked with him, I think he's more sad to them than anything

He has massive substance abuse issues and his sister was raped and murdered when she was 18, he's been a mess his whole life outside of acting

apparently he just snaps into really good acting mode when someone yells action but for a lot of Cheers/Frasier he was very out of it

I'm not optimistic. Without a Marty Crane it's hard to such a good/perfect foil to Frasier's character.

Even as good as the original show was, it really started reaching in its last few years.

Frasier ended on a perfect note, this revival isn't necessary at all.

Then again, what revivals are I guess lol

Frasier is one of my favorite shows of all time

But fuck this, its worthless without John Mahoney. And Kelsey Grammar seems like a shitwad

This will be terrible

the worst part of frasier was niles' obsessively creepy panty-thief-esque behavior towards daphne which lasted fucking forever, and then he was rewarded by marrying her. at least that whole plot won't be present in the revival...

I don't remember what happened to Frederick, his son, at the end of the first show. Obvious answer for the reboot is have Frasier have to go live with Freddy like Martin had to go live with Frasier. The old reboot flip flop.

Maybe it will follow The Roseanne Cycle...

Bring it back for one season, being a shithead, Kelsey Grammer gets fired and they kill off his character.

It's brought back as "Niles"

I can't wait for my favourite multicam to receive the 'executive producer Grammer' treatment.

Opening episode is going to feature well-meaning old libcuck Frasier being assaulted by thugs at a BLM protest, then making a new best friend therapist called Bordan Peterson

He's also going to get a faculty job at a university and resign in protest over free speech concerns

Frederick's going to be trans too - and yes - there will be many jokes about it

I don't really want to watch a Frasier revival. If he agrees to do some live shows where he accidentally falls off the stage every night though, I would spend good money on it.
